Couve Culture Weekender: Sept 11th - 14th

It’s Thursday September 11th in the Couve…
It’s Thursday, September 11th in the Couve, and I’m back to my old routine: a Kafiex coffee in hand and a bag of farmers market goodies that may or may not survive the week in my fridge. There’s no shortage of action this weekend—scarecrow crafting at Pomeroy, peaceful community vibes at Esther Short, and the Timbers taking on the Red Bulls just a short MAX ride away.
On the home front, my daughter and I are scheming up a Mabon lemonade-style stand in a couple of weeks—think tea, handmade magic wands, and tarot readings. If our neighbors show up, it’ll absolutely make her year. In the meantime, if you know of any good day job leads in sales, send them my way—I’m still hunting.
Oh, and a shoutout to the brand-new Elizabeth Austin Playground at Fruit Valley Park. If you haven’t checked it out yet, it’s worth a stop—because nothing beats watching your kids break it in while you sip your coffee and soak up some early fall Couve weather.
Here are the five events I’m circling on my calendar:
Scarecrow Making Workshop
GRO Parade of Homes
Vancouver Peace and Justice Fair
Portland Timbers vs. New York Red Bulls
Vancouver Farmers Market
Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram for even more weekend ideas & event updates.
Cheap Flights
Okay, Couve fam — if you’re itching to escape before the rain really sets in, this week’s flight deals are ridiculously tempting. Denver for just over a hundred bucks, Vegas cheaper than a brunch tab, and even Switzerland for less than a new iPhone.
Honestly, I’m one canceled I-5 commute away from booking a mountain weekend in Colorado or just disappearing into the Alps until spring.

That’s the weekend line-up, friends — from straw-stuffed porch guardians to global flight temptations. I’ll see you around Esther Short, probably dodging food trucks like it’s a sport. And remember: if traffic on I-5 feels eternal, at least it’s still shorter than the line for Salt & Straw this summer.
